"I have followed Gertrude Palmer's work critically for more than a decade. I've always been amazed by her ability to work in a variety of media -- and under conditions from strict studio production to soulful interpretations of landscapes, people and urban environments en plein aire.

As an artist, she is continually exploring her own boundaries and pushing to achieve uniquely individual interpretations of her subjects. She has tastefully and compassionately captured the essence of the varied historic cultures of our region and has turned a creative brushstroke on moody, atmospheric scenes that personify the Lowcountry.

As a person, she has the ability to meet and put at ease perfect strangers. Among her most compelling work for me have been her sketches made on site at parties, raucous night clubs and idyllic beachside gatherings."
